9 Things Mentally Tough People Always Do

Talent is important, but success is also based on persistence, focus, and standing fast in the face of criticism. Fortunately, mental toughness is something you can develop.

Let's get this out of the way: Mental toughness is not a quality you either do or don't have.

Sure, some people may have greater self-discipline than you possess. Some people may be better at resisting temptation than you are. But that's probably not because they were born with some certain special something inside of them--instead, they've found ways to develop mental toughness and use it when it really matters.

They're mentally strong because they've learned how to be--and you can too.

Here's how:

1. Always assume you are in complete control.

There's a quote often credited to Ignatius: "Pray as if God will take care of all; act as if all is up to you." (It's a very cool quote.)

The same premise applies to luck. Many people feel luck has a lot to do with success or failure. If they succeed, luck favored them, and if they fail, luck was against them.

Most successful people do feel good luck played some role in their success. But they don't wait for good luck, or worry about bad luck. They act as if success or failure is totally within their control.

If they succeed, they caused it. If they fail, they caused it.

By not wasting mental energy worrying about what might happen to you, you can put all your effort into making things happen. (And then, if you get lucky, hey, you're even better off.)

You can't control what luck does for you, but you can definitely control what you do for yourself.

2. Make a lot fewer choices.

We all have a finite store of mental energy for exercising self-control.

The more choices we make during the day, the harder each one is on our brain--and the more we start to look for shortcuts. (When you're tired, you're a lot more likely to say, "Oh, the heck with it.")

Then we get impulsive. Then we get reckless. Then we make decisions we know we shouldn't make, but we just can't seem help ourselves.

In fact, we can't help ourselves: We've run out of the mental energy we need to make smart choices.

That's why the fewer choices we have to make, the smarter choices we can make when we do need to make a decision.

Say you want to drink more water and less soda. Easy: Keep three water bottles on your desk at all times. Then you won't need to go to the refrigerator and make a choice.

Or say you struggle to keep from constantly checking your email. Easy: Turn off all your alerts. Or shut down your email and open it only once an hour. Or take your mail program off your desktop and keep it on a laptop across the room. Make it hard to check, because then you're more likely not to.

Or say you want to make fewer impulse purchases. Easy: Keep your credit card in a drawer. Then you can't make an impulse buy. Or require two sign-offs for all purchases over a certain amount, because you will have to run those decisions by someone else (which probably means you'll think twice and won't even bother).

Choices are the enemy of mental toughness. So are ease and convenience. Think of decisions that require you to be mentally strong, and then take willpower totally out of the equation.

3. Put aside things you have no ability to impact.

Mental strength is like muscle strength--no one has an unlimited supply. So why waste your power on things you can't control?

For some people, it's politics. For others, it's family. For others, it's global warming. Whatever it is, you care, and you want others to care.

Fine. Do what you can do: Vote. Lend a listening ear. Recycle, and reduce your carbon footprint. Do what you can do. Be your own change--but don't try to make everyone else change.

(They won't.)

4. See the past as valuable training and nothing more.

The past is valuable. Learn from your mistakes. Learn from the mistakes of others.

Then let it go.

Easier said than done? It depends on your perspective. When something bad happens to you, see it as an opportunity to learn something you didn't know. When another person makes a mistake, don't just learn from it--see it as an opportunity to be kind, forgiving, and understanding.

The past is just training; it doesn't define you. Think about what went wrong but only in terms of how you will make sure that next time, you and the people around you will know how to make sure it goes right.

5. Actively celebrate the success of others.

Many people--I guarantee you know at least a few--see success as a zero-sum game. To them, there's only so much to go around, so if someone else shines, they think that diminishes the light from their star.

Resentment sucks up a massive amount of mental energy--energy better applied elsewhere.

When a friend does something awesome, that doesn't preclude you from doing something awesome. In fact, where success is concerned, birds of a feather tend to flock together--so draw your successful friends even closer.

Don't resent awesomeness. Create and celebrate awesomeness, wherever you find it, and in time you'll find even more of it in yourself.

6. Never allow yourself to complain. Or criticize.

Your words have power, especially over you. Whining about your problems always makes you feel worse, not better.

So if something is wrong, don't waste time complaining. Put that mental energy into making the situation better. (Unless you want to whine about it forever, eventually you'll have to make it better.)

So why waste time? Fix it now. Don't talk about what's wrong. Talk about how you'll make things better, even if that conversation is only with yourself.

And do the same with your friends or colleagues. Don't just serve as a shoulder they can cry on. Friends don't let friends whine; friends help friends make their lives better.

7. Don't try to impress others; impress yourself instead.

No one likes you for your clothes, your car, your possessions, your title, or your accomplishments. Those are all things. People may like your things--but that doesn't mean they like you.

(Sure, superficially they might seem to like you, but what's superficial is also insubstantial, and a relationship not based on substance is not a real relationship.)

Genuine relationships make you happier, and you'll only form genuine relationships when you stop trying to impress and start trying to just be yourself.

And you'll have a lot more mental energy to spend on the people who really do matter in your life.

8. Consistently review your long-term goals.

Say you want to build a bigger company; when you're mentally tired, it's easy to rationalize that you'll do your best tomorrow, not today. Say you want to lose weight; when you're mentally tired, it's easy to rationalize that you'll start changing your eating and exercise habits tomorrow, not today. Say you want to better engage with your employees; when you're mentally tired, it's easy to rationalize that you really need to work on some report today; tomorrow you'll worry about your employees.

Mental fatigue makes us take the easy way out--even though the easy way takes us the wrong way. That's why it's so important to maintain tangible reminders to pull you back from the impulse brink.

A friend has a copy of his bank note taped to his computer monitor as a constant reminder of an obligation he must meet. Another keeps a photo of himself on his refrigerator taken when he weighed 250 pounds so he's constantly reminded of the person he never wants to be again. Katheryn Winnick, the star of Vikings, keeps a list of goals on her computer desktop so she's forced to look at them every day. (She's also hosted a vision board party, one of the cooler ideas I've heard in a while.)

Think of moments when you are most likely to give in to impulses that take you further away from your long-term goals. Then use tangible reminders of those long-term goals to interrupt the impulse and keep you on track.

9. Count your blessings.

Take a second every night before you turn out the light and, in that moment, quit worrying about what you don't have. Quit worrying about what others have that you don't.

Think about what you do have. You have a lot to be thankful for. Feels pretty good, doesn't it?

Feeling better about yourself is the best way of all to recharge your mental batteries.

mystery of life

Different Perspectives Of Life…..

"Life : An Unsolved Mystery"

Life the unpredictable journey of time...
Where we don't know what tomorrow may lead us to....
Made of the bitter and sweet experiences,
Meeting of wrong persons and the best one,
The hurts and the joy,
The sorrows and happiness,
The joy of fulfillment of expectations and the sorrow of the unfulfilled wishes,
Love and just attraction,

How to define the life....?
Can we do that...?
I am trying to do that and still wondering,
Sometimes finding the meaning stuck me on some points also...But simply trying to express it with my words and some experiences...

1) Different perspectives of life :

Every human has two sides of their life,
More precisely two parts
“Good Part" and the "Worst Part".

It is not the good part that makes us succeed or worst that leads us to failure.
It is up to us that how we respond to that thing.
Let's take an example of a person with evil heart but still he was good at some extent.
But we are get used to see the worst part only....

We all have heard the name of "Ravan" , The character from Ramayana...
Can we judge that man...?

He kidnapped "Sitaji" for marrying with her even he was aware that she is married.
But he had never done the things what he was capable of.
Still we burn that man every year.
And the rapists are wondering freely now a days.
We just know only worst parts...

We just blame other that they are not doing the work properly or not making the things done in which way it has to be...

Ever we tried to judge us...?
Are we doing the right things always.?

It is easy to pointing the finger to someone's fault but ask ourselves.
Are we at the position that we can find the faults of others......?

It's easy to figure out the faults but accepting ours is not that easy.
We have a common mentality to see the faults or negative things only....
Even we have been taught from our childhood to see the good things everywhere.

I can't understand why but really most of the people don't try to see the good things..

Why we never choose the light over the darkness,
The love over the hate,
We chose the hate because we don't know the true meaning of love.

The people who quit their lives perhaps they have just considered the bad parts only...if they know the beauty of life they never quit...

Everything has its own beauty just require to see the right eyes.
Beauty or the beast everyone have the heart...

Everyone have the dark side
But we need to believe that
No matter what happens to us,
No matter how much darkness infects us we can come back from that.
We can redeem our self.

We just see what he/she is......
But never try to understand why he/she is here...
What situation made them the person we don't wanna see.
No one born with the bad thoughts or negativity...

That is our society, the people,
the situations that forces the person to change...

Everyone have bad days in their life
but some gets broken
while other pick the broken pieces
(bad moments) and
Just move on...
it's just bad moment not bad life....

Life is not always just the bunch of flowers there must some pains also...

The constant life will never lead to the new things or understanding us the value of the Good parts...

Just think the life as a son of billionaire...
If you ask for the water
You will get the milk and also ask what flavor of milk you'll like..?
And at other end,
The child of a poor will not be able to get the drinkable water also....

That poor can know that how valuable this water is...

Sometimes we complains continuously that i am not having this or that
But just think...

The thing or object we are demanding for,
Was it with us from our birth..?

The answer is no...
We won't have that thing yesterday still we were happy...
and today we are striving for it....

It doesn't mean that we shouldn't think or dream for new things but at least we can live the life...
It is not oxygen...

Even some people have not enough clothes or food also still they have happiness in their faces.
Wrong and excessive expectations make us unhappy...

A single thing which can be boon for someone and the same can be curse for someone...

A pilot driving a plane,
Flying in the sky look down towards the land
and think that when i will see my place home...

And the another one sees the plane flying and think when i will get this joy of flying in the sky...
One person want to ”leave” that life and another want to “live” that life....the object is same...

So without complaining we must have to learn to appreciate the things we got...
If we don't than probably
We will know the worth of that after we lose it...

It is not possible to understand the value of sweetness of sugar until or unless we haven't experience of something bitter...
Only our past experiences that make us present one.
What we are today is what we were yesterday...
So without crying or striving we just have to understand the things we have in present...

We are here to learn not to judge..
Even a freezed watch shows the right time twice in a day...
Than we are the humans the only creation of god whom is capable of doing anything.

We all have something that unique part that no one can know better than us....

Life is nothing but a play with not given the script...
an equipment without user’s manual,
A mystery to be solved,

Everyone is here to play his/her role...and no one will do that for you...
God just push us and tell show me your talent...
Sometimes we copy to others but why we don't understand that we are only a single piece...

No one can play the role of you better than yourself.

We have mentality that what i am doing is right or what i am seeing is reality but keep in mind there are various perspectives or various ways of seeing that single thing.

In Mahabharata there is a good example of seeing the things.
"Yudhishthir" and "Duryodhan" both have given a task, for "Yudhishthir" to find bad person and for "Duryodhan" to find a good person from whole the world.

When they came back everyone was surprised.
Both were failed to find and complete their task.
"Yudhishthir" failed to find the bad person and even "Duryodhan" was also failed to find a good person from whole world.

We can understand clearly that why both were failed because both have different way of seeing the things.

Same here we all are getting used to see the two parts good and worst.
But mostly as I believe to see the good part is more likely to choose.
It is able to change the whole world or situation you are facing.
Really it can change the whole life.
Don't see the pains as panic and blessings as blossom. Everything is required.
The cloud of disappointments will be turned into the rain of happiness. Everything will pass.

And for a blossom (happiness) it is required the clouds (pains) and the storms (Disappointments)
Everything is tend to change just required some time.

Life is combination of joy and sorrows.
And both are incomplete without each other.
Like a piano black switches are the bad moments and the whites are precious moments.
But both are essential to complete the music (balancing of both).

But negativity in terms of getting something is good.
We can think like i am not good, required more efforts more improvements.
I will do some extra ordinary things and learn new every day until my last breath.
I will fly over the sky not with the wings but with my thoughts.
We are humans capable of everything just required to change disabilities into the strength.
It is so easy to giving up but so much harder so much strength, so much courage is required to do hard work.
There are some victories which can't be described in the words only.

Here we have some examples whom have turned their disabilities into the victories.
They have never considered their disabilities as weakness.

1) Sudha Chandran :
Indian classical dancer and TV actress met an accident at the age of 17.She lost her left leg.
But this brave woman did not give up her indomitable spirit and living with the Jaipur foot.

A film was made on the basis of her real life story “Nache Mayuri”, where she played her character.
She has been honored with numerous awards.

2) Bharat Kumar :
Bharat kumar was born with right hand by birth, but his physical disability never dissuade him from pursuing his dreams.
He has won 2 international titles,
One gold medal and 40 national level medals in swimming.

3) Stephen Hawking :
One of the greatest physicists suffers from motor neuron disease and speaks with the help of voice synthesizer.
Still he is working and researching.

4) Lizzie Velasquez :
She has a rare “Congenital disease” she has zero percent body fat and has never weighed more than 29 kg. She is blind from one eye.
She is a motivational speaker and have written books on teenagers.
A documentary film “A brave heart” is also published.

5) Nick Vujicic :
A rare disorder characterized by the absence of legs and arms. He struggled mentally and emotionally and physically.
He is a great motivational speaker an presents speeches on living with disabilities and finding hope and meaning of life.
He has written many books also.

So this is the spirit of changing the worst condition into the favorable.
They are suffering from various disorders still  “ They have life because they see the life differently ”.
We have everything two hands, Two legs, Two eyes still we are not happy with them and instead of being thankful with it we just try to finding the faults.
It is required to be happy with what we have.

“Disability is a state of mind and it’s useless to fight fire with fire”
“You got to face your own demons “

So,not required to change the whole world just required to change our thinking and the way of seeing the things.

“Nazar ko badlo nazaare badal jayenge,
Soch ko badlo sitaare badal jayenge,
Naav ko badlne ki zaroorat nhi,
Bs kastiyaan bdlo kinaare badal jayenge”.

I apologize if I have hurt anyone by my article.
I am just trying to make everyone understand about the seeing the things in different way.

Suggestions and feedback are most well come. For any queries or pls send me

Journey of TCS

Journey To TCS Ignite,Chennai

My journey to TCS ignite ,Chennai has started a very long time ago. I was introduced to Ignite when i was in 3rd year of my Graduation(BCA) during July-Aug 2016, from my college Dean. He had just introduced us to Open Ignite program 2016 and said that ”This is the unique opportunities for you guys (to my class),just grab it,it never come again such Golden opportunities for you”.

At that time i don’t know much about TCS ignite program but with this inseparable words ,i was register in Open Ignite and found it interesting ,complete my portfolio. At that time i was not aware with my self,i was just taking it casually not so serious about it. After Registering I was give tests join teams, form groups means i was active in Open Ignite with a little hope.

In Nov-Dec 2013 Open Ignite launch a course Open challenge,i felt it so hepatic, after giving a number of test again participate in Open Challenge and submit solution of different projects available in Open Challenge. Finally i left it in Dec 2013 and doesn’t submit any solution of project. I was just left it luck and God,but before Open Challenge I was dam mad in Open Ignite.

I got a message in my mobile ‘Dear candidate your interview has been scheduled check your mail’ on 11th Jan 2016 when i was in IIT Kharagpur with my college trip for GES(Global Entrepreneurship Summit)2014.Along with me some of my college friends also got same message about our Ignite interview. With this great news everyone felt happy and lucky were decided after returning our home town start preparation for our interview together.

Coming back to home,me and my friends has decided to request to our Dean, arrange some softskills and technical classes to furnish our knowledge in order to perform better in interview ”But This time our Dean disappointed us alot we didn’t get any extra classes”.In the mean time we have checked our mails got a link to download interview card(Interview letter). We have downloaded it and found all of us having the same interview time, date and location(9:00 Am,5th of Feb 2014, Usha Martin Academy Ranchi)and we have register in Next Step Portal by which we get our DT/CT reference number.

Gradually we are closed to our interview date,we all have start preparing hard by self only. Finally the day is come some of my friends decided to go Ranchi by Bus. The journey from Patna to Ranchi with seven Friends is very excited. Finally At 7:00 Am we were at Ranchi, check in Hotels and fresh out there, and reached exact 9:00 AM to our destination.

At that time we all are very confused no idea about what is going to happen now. With lot of nervousness we entered in a room over there many students are sitting and rearrange their documents for verification,so this is verification room to verify our documents.

After Document verification,we moved in another hall over there 4,5 HR sited in cabin and taking HR and Technical Rounds of interview. Each candidate move to first HR round after clearing HR,one can move in Technical i.e. Final round. We were sitting on chairs to waiting for our turn in HR round,in the mean while a TCS associates give us some programming questions to solve it then and their on a sheet of paper. Question is very simple like Factorial,Reverse a String,Prime Number etc ,given us to just for engaged us.

So,Abhinav tell me about your self and your family background” is the first question as aspect, a lady HR asked to me when I entered in the cabin. To be frank at that time my communication is not very good but I am able to speak my words. The HR round is not a tough one,she asked some question related to our details in Open Ignite portfolio. After some around 8 to 10 questions she given me two question on a sheet of paper to solve. The question is very simple, one is related to Area of Circle and Square and another is from programming ‘Find multiples of 24’.I solved it correctly than she said ‘Thank you Abhinav Best of luck’ and signed on my application. In the hall a TCS associate checked my paper and told me ‘Go and wait for your technical round’ OMG what a felling when I was clear my first round awesome, feeling full of confidence!. ”So In HR round they are basically judge our communication and basic knowledge about Mathematics and Programming”.

Now i was waiting for my final or Technical round,In final round around 20 question asked to me related to Data Structure,Stack,SQL,12th Physics,Integration and Differentiation. In over 20 question, answear of 3 or 4 question i didn’t know at all so i simply replied ”Sorry Sir i don’t know about it” i answeared rest question correctly with minor mistake, The interview was arround 20-30 minutes, lastly he asked me “why you want to join TCS Ignite”,i replied simply “for my better carrer and all that”. Now interview is completely over and they said ‘wait for a month for the results we will inform you via mail and next step portal.

After returning our home town me and my friends are waiting for results, after a week some of my friends got a mail that states ’Thank you for participating in TCS Ignite Interview’.I  didn’t get such mail so that time i was little tensed. After 12-20 days of my interview i got a mail about Code Ground that states ’To learn Java and Pyhton Programing at Code Ground Portal powered by TCS ignite’.It is not mandotry to learn by i move on to it try to solve questions. Its around more that a month and still we didn’t get our results, lastly i left checkouts my mails and Next step portal,i was hopeless, frustrated about results.

At 13th March 2016 one of my friends got mail about Offer Letter and i am happly to know that he is selected.Instantly i also checked mail and next step portal and find the same. This is the moment i never ever forget in my life i was happy for my selection as well as sad for my dear one who is not selected. Our designation is Graduate Trainee.

In Offer letter it is mentioned that to complete some of documents before joining these documents are mentioned in offer letter.Me and my friend together move to prepare documents for joining. At 28th March we got a mail about NSR Registration.NSR Registration is not mandatory before joinig one can do it after joining also.We both register and plan to move POS(Poit Of Servies) center of NSR to complete Registration after submitting biometrics details like finger prints etc.Friends There is no POS center in my City so we will postponed it for some time.

Now in month of April 2016,i was try to find ins and out about TCS trainees and information related to Training.I was found about IPL(Initial Learning Program) Aspire aslo PEO(Pre Employment Orientation).

Aspire-It is Pre-ILP learning program for Engineering Graduates after getting Offer Letter,They need to prepare themselves for Training to perform in Aspire Quiz,Test,Projects etc. Those who is perform better get early joinig otherwise wait.

PEO-It is for Normal Graduates like BCA,B.sc(Hon),B.sc.IT,B.Sc.(Computer Science) etc.

So PEO is basically for Open Ignite student,Again PEO also having some task and projects and who is perform better and actively participate in PEO get early joining otherwise wait for next batch.

Now i got idea about PEO and i know better i need to perform better PEO,but question is when the PEO start for Ignite 2014 Batch.

At 28th April 2016 i got a mail regarding PEO with a link and password to Login in PEO Portal, and  the mail is

Congratulations on your TCS selection and welcome to Pre Employment Orientation (PEO) learning program. The likely joining date for the first batch is the 18th of July. Those who are not invited to join as part of this batch will be part of the next batch that is likely to start in the 3rd week of Februray 2015. To ensure you are part of the first batch, you have to actively participate in all the PEO activities over the next 10 weeks. The PEO learning program will help you prepare for training by strengthening your technical background and your English language and communication skills. Activities will include reading assignments, projects and tests. All activities have to be done individually by oneself unless explicitly stated otherwise. We have ways to find out if you copy. All those found indulging in malpractices will have their joining dates postponed indefinitely.

 Wish you all the best!

PEO Team:”

After login in PEO Portal, found there no task at all,and getting hungry to perform in PEO.After some days task and projects are given to us.In the mean time 14th of May i was completed my NSR Registration at Ranchi nearest to my city.

From 28th April 2016 to 17th  june 2016 continuously performing in PEO as well as in ‘Code Ground’ (code ground is a online java tutor powered by TCS.) actively complete all projects as soon as possible, given the test.On 18th june 2016 some of us got status changed in PEO portal status become ‘Invited for joining TCS’ from ‘Shortlisted’.It gives us a huge relax and those who got change in status expected their joining by 18th july in 1st  batch.

On 21th June some of us got message that our joining date has been decided that is 25th July and i am the lucky one,now i am start preparing for my joining. Finally after a lot of tense i got some cheerful moment in my life.

On 27th June i got my joining letter via mail, this is the ultimate relax i got in last three month. Thanks God and my well wisher.

"God will only give you opportunity , Performance is yours !!"

Thanks for your time and patience!! Sorry for miss spelled words!!!

Thank You
